JELAJAHNEWS.ID – Gubernur Sumatera Utara (Sumut), Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, menyiapkan tiga lapangan sebagai pusat pelatihan (Training Center) Tim Nasional (Timnas) Indonesia U-17. Persiapan ini mencuat usai pertemuan antara Bobby dan Anggota Komite Eksekutif (Exco) PSSI, Arya Sinulingga, Sabtu (7/6/2025).
Arya, yang juga menjabat sebagai Staf Khusus Menteri BUMN Bidang Strategi Komunikasi dan Hubungan Publik, mengungkapkan bahwa Timnas U-17 telah lolos ke ajang Piala Dunia U-17 di Qatar. Sebagai bagian dari persiapan, PSSI akan menggelar laga uji coba melawan tim dari negara lain yang juga lolos ke turnamen tersebut.
“Kita akan buat besar. Pak Erick Thohir sudah mengundang tiga negara lain yang juga lolos ke Piala Dunia U-17. Jadi di Sumut nanti akan ada pertandingan antara Timnas U-17 dan tim-tim luar negeri,” ujar Arya.
Menurutnya, kehadiran tim-tim luar negeri akan meningkatkan gairah sepakbola di Sumut. Ia menegaskan bahwa PSSI telah meminta izin dan dukungan penuh dari Gubernur Sumut.
“Support dari Pak Gubernur dan Wakil Gubernur luar biasa. Kami sangat senang bisa menggelar kegiatan ini di Sumut,” tambahnya.
Arya juga menyampaikan bahwa kegiatan ini akan berlangsung dari tanggal 10 hingga 18 Agustus 2025. Ia berharap event ini mampu menghidupkan kembali atmosfer sepakbola di Sumatera Utara, yang terakhir bergema besar saat ajang Marahalim Cup.
“Kami sudah melihat langsung fasilitasnya. Ada dua stadion untuk latihan dan satu untuk pertandingan. Fasilitas di Sumut cukup baik,” pungkasnya.
Sementara itu, Gubernur Bobby Nasution menyatakan pihaknya telah meninjau kesiapan beberapa lapangan. Ia juga menyebut bahwa pengajuan penyelenggaraan event ini datang dari Arya Sinulingga dan PSSI Sumut.
“Kami sudah koordinasi dengan Wakil Wali Kota Medan untuk penggunaan Lapangan Kebun Bunga. Selain itu, juga disiapkan Lapangan Pancing dan Stadion Utama Sumut di Deliserdang,” ungkap Bobby.
Wakil Wali Kota Medan, Zakiyuddin Harahap, menyambut baik inisiatif ini dan berharap event tersebut dapat membangkitkan semangat olahraga di Kota Medan.
“Pemerintah Kota Medan mendukung penuh kegiatan ini karena dapat menggairahkan kembali olahraga, khususnya sepakbola,” ujarnya.(jns)
